Biopharmaceutical processes are complex, and understanding what is happening throughout a process can be challenging. For scientists and process teams, having the right information at the right time can make a meaningful difference in how processes are developed, optimized, and controlled.
In the fourth episode of our Behind the Technology series, Jennifer Karlsson, Application Scientist at ArgusEye, shares her perspective on how access to real-time process information can change the way scientists understand and manage bioprocesses.
From her experience working with real bioprocess applications, Jennifer sees the value of sensing technology in helping teams identify changes earlier and understand what is driving process performance. Having access to information at the right time can make it easier to respond to emerging issues and support more informed decisions.
One of the application areas ArgusEye is currently working on is antibody aggregate quantification. Jennifer is particularly interested in the potential of monitoring aggregates during purification, where real-time information could give process teams greater insight into product quality while the process is still underway.
She also highlights the importance of understanding how sensing technology fits into the customer’s process. Different applications have different requirements, and developing useful solutions means looking beyond the measurement itself to how the information will be used.
Looking ahead, Jennifer expects process monitoring to become increasingly continuous, with AI and advanced data analysis helping scientists make sense of larger and more complex datasets. For her, the real opportunity lies in turning that information into insight that can support better decisions.
